Places To Visit In Perth, Scotland

The ‘Fair City’ of Perth in Scotland is also frequently referred to as being the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’. Located on the River Tay’s banks, the town of Perth was the capital of Scotland and in the medieval period the busy little town was known by local folk as Saint Johnstoun (St. John’s Town). The town’s name, or Peairt in the Gaelic, is derived from the Pictish word meaning a copse or wood. Nowadays this idyllic little town is a great place as a base for a touring vacation with a valuable number of Perth bed and breakfast accommodation to choose from ranging from the less expensive B&B to the alarmingly highly priced top of the range luxury hotels with gyms and spas with a good deal of facilities and services.
